Tűzkő

The story of the Hungarian Tűzkő in Bátaapáti goes back to the early 1990s when Hungary went through a political and economic change. Wine production also underwent a major transformation: from large state-owned companies, focused on quantity, to private cellars where quality comes first and a free market with opportunities for foreign investors. Tűzkő's potential was discovered by Marquis Piero Antinori and the Italian winery Antinori took over the management in 2002.

Tűzkő's new wine cellar, equipped with state-of-the-art technology for pressing, fermentation and bottling, has been in use since 1991. There is still an underground cellar in one of the hills from the beginning of the 17th century. There, the wine is stored in 225 litre oak barrels or in bottles.
